Why HelpOne?
Many organizations champion the interests of Black communities within the greater philanthropic world. The 21st Century Foundation makes grants nationally to Black organizations. The National Center for Black Philanthropy convenes hundreds annually around the issue of giving as a tool for advancement. The Association of Black Foundation Executives prioritizes recruitment, retention, and development of Black professionals who work within grantmaking institutions. The Black Church continues to be a predominant vehicle for giving in the Black community. Many for-profit companies have held long-standing traditions of "giving back" to the community.
Yet, gaps still exist within Black neighborhoods.
How can local Black communities themselves participate in routing more dollars to their own neighborhoods?
How can teachers access the materials they need to reach their students?
How can neighbors get the resources they need to revitalize the playgrounds within their communities and provide safe spaces for children and youth to play?
How can youth exercise their own voices to create interventions that are timely, relevant, and funded?
HelpOneServeOne.org, managed by The MATCHSTICK Group, provides an answer. By helping individuals become co-producers in change, HelpOne gives under-resourced communities the opportunity to ensure targeted, localized, immediate transformation – right where they live, work, and play. HelpOne gives everyday citizens the power to financially participate in creating positive outcomes for the Black community.
